Warehousing and Storage Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship

There are a number of components that make up a Warehousing and Storage Intermediate Apprenticeship. Here you will find an outline of the qualifications you will achieve and the units and vocational areas you will cover throughout your training as well as other important information such as timescales, funding and what this qualification can lead to.​


Intermediate Apprenticeship in Warehousing and Storage, which includes:


  • A combined competence and knowledge qualification: NVQ Level 2 Certificate in Warehousing and Storage
  • Functional Skills Maths Level 1
  • Functional Skills English Level 1
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities

    The apprenticeship is made up of mandatory units which cover the essential skills required for working in a warehousing environment, such as Health and Safety and developing effective working relationships. There are then a variety of optional units to choose from which focus on the specific tasks you carry out within your role which could include:

    • Wrapping and packing goods
    • Processing and assembling orders
    • Maintaining equipment, work areas and hygiene standards
    • Moving and/or handling goods
    • Using equipment to move/handle goods
    • Stock keeping
    • Supervising the receipt, storage and dispatch of goods

      About The Training

      ​Assessment method: There are various methods available that can be tailored to suit your needs, such as:

      • Observation
      • Examination of case history
      • Product evidence
      • Witness testimony
      • Questioning

      All teaching, learning and assessment for the qualification will take place in the workplace. There is no requirement to attend college.

      Intermediate Apprenticeships/Advanced Apprenticeships in any of the following:

        Into a job as a Warehouse Operations Team Member or with further development and training e.g. in-house/external development programme (CPD) accredited/non accredited into the following jobs at level 3:

        • Transport Manager

        Further Information

        ​Entry requirements: You must be employed in a warehousing environment carrying out warehousing tasks for at least 16 hours per week.

        Employers seek to attract applicants who have a keen interest in working in a warehousing business in the logistics sector. They must be willing to work shifts, as part of a team and be good timekeepers. Employers are also interested in applicants who have basic literacy and numeracy skills on which this Apprenticeship will build.

        Applicants to this Intermediate Apprenticeship/Advanced Apprenticeship will be a mix of age and experience. As a guide, applicants may come from a range of routes including:

        • work or work experience
        • training and/or experience which could include a portfolio showing what they have done
        • foundation learning at level 1
        • any of the Key Skills or Functional Skills
        • Young Apprenticeship
        • vocational or academic qualification(s)
