What Is Your Career Academy?

Your Career Academy is a training programme specifically designed to give 16-18 year olds the skills, confidence and opportunity to get their career started.

There are options to suit everyone and we aim to help every 16-18 year old find a job or an Apprenticeship.

As well as working towards a vocational qualification you will be supported in the development of your Maths and English skills.

If you’re ready straight away, you will have the opportunity to go on a work placement with a local employer to gain some valuable experience. This could be in a wide range of businesses.

In addition you will undertake a programme of activities specifically designed to help you to find work. It will include things like communication, application forms and writing letters, interview skills as well as an opportunity to undertake the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

You will also have the opportunity to achieve the following qualifications:

  • Functional Skills (English, Maths & ICT)
  • Development of Personal & Social Skills

Apprenticeship Levy

The new apprenticeship levy on employers will be introduced in April 2017 and will help fund employer apprenticeship schemes and reach the target of delivering three million apprenticeships by 2020.
